Who We Are
The Foster Care program works to ensure that special needs animals who cannot be accommodated in the shelter environment can have placement upon entering AHS. These special needs animals consist of: kittens and puppies who are under six weeks in age, adult cats and dogs who find the shelter environment overwhelming, and other animals who have special medical needs such as recovering from a surgery or going through heartworm treatment. Other times, our shelter is simply filled to capacity. Our Foster Care volunteers are an essential part in saving the lives of thousands of animals every year!
What We Do
When we have an animal that needs a foster home, we’ll send out an email to that list. It will be detailed, including the type of animal, age, care requirements, length of time in foster, and any special needs. If you are able to take an animal into foster, please respond via e-mail and let us know!
